Is Eric preloading the drivetrain before hitting the transbrake? If so, this would be similar to foot braking and easier on the drivetrain. If he is just hitting the transbrake and not preloading the drivetrain prior to hitting the transbrake, there is still "slack" in the rearend, but still less shock on the transmission parts becuase it is "locked/loaded" prior to release. Also, the use of the ET Streets with a biasply sidewall helps ease the shock of hard launches.
